Lockdown Blues (2021)
These fragmentary images originate from the early stages of the global pandemic; created as the regular dynamics of daily life slowed to an eerie near-halt. The scenery comprises halting sites, GAA fields, the walls of an old scout den, ditches, ghost-estate ruins, country back-roads, power stations — typical of any mid-sized Irish town. It is a site-specific, gestural work, signifying the impulse to create something in spite of such restrictive circumstances.
The project is realised in a small-run artist's book, fine art print & audio track. It was released on the anniversary of the first wave of globalised lockdowns.
